What and Who is Neural Pathways?

Neural Pathways Ltd was created by Eric Sutherland. The company name was chosen to highlight the fact that we do not learn things in isolation. To be successful, the things that we learn must be associated with something else we already know. By relating new concepts and ideas to our current knowledge and experience, we are more likely to remember the new idea and be able to use it for ourselves. This is also how the brain works. One neuron connects to other neurons. This linkage of neuron to neuron creates a Neural Pathway through our mind. Every thought and memory that we have is stored in our minds as a neural pathway.

Eric therefore decided to create this website and to begin to cram it with as many concepts and ideas as possible. The aim is to link these together to form a network of concepts that relate to each other, thus mimicking the network of the brain. The original idea came while he was doing his MBA. There was nowhere that you could go to link all of the concepts and tools together. The reason for this is because most of them are proprietary and there are obviously copyright issues surrounding dragging all of these concepts together in one place. This site attempts to do just that, so please see our notice about copyright.

This site is not a substitute for learning about the different concepts in greater depth. The statement that "a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing" could have been written for managers. We have all suffered at the hands of the manager fresh from the latest management course and their "new idea". Most of us just keep our heads down and wait for the effects to wear off, then things can get back to the way they were. This is a pity. In order to advance things have to change. If we keep doing the same things we will continue to get the same results - that's the natural order of things.

This site is designed to be a free resource, but there is a commercial organisation behind it. So, please use the site as a quick reference. But please don't try out the concepts and ideas on those that you work with without getting a deep understanding of what they are for, and what they are not for.
